SUMMARY:EU-South Asia Investor and Start-up Internationalization Focus
DESCRIPTION:EU-South Asia Investor Networking Platform \n The European Union in collaboration with stakeholders has initiated the EU-South Asia\nInvestor Networking Platform to connect the three major angel and investor networks of\nEurope\, India and Sri Lanka/South Asia with the objective to explore cross border\ncollaboration and connect opportunities between: \n● Investor: Investor\n● Start-up: Start-up\n● Start-up: Investor\n● EU-South Asia investor networking events\n● EU-South Asia start-up pitch sessions\n● Impact investments\n● Blended Financing and Risk Mitigation for Cross Border Investments\nThe platform is set up in close consultation with investor networks including the European\nBusiness Angel Network (EBAN)\, Lankan Angel Network (LAN) and Indian Angel Network\n(IAN). The platform would include a series of panel discussions\, investor connect events\,\nroundtables and start-up pitch sessions.\nThe platform would also provide global market access to the start-ups and investors alike.\nThis would be followed up by a couple more events in the month of October and November\nto bring continuity and facilitate further discussions and collaborations between the three\nregions and networks.\nWhile Europe and India has fair amount of growing action and transactions\, this platform will\nsteer to bring focus on emerging growth engines and frontier ecosystems in South Asia\,\nstarting with Sri Lanka.\nThis platform will enable trust and relationship building between European\, Sri Lankan and\nIndian investors. Through this platform the investor networks will be able to grow their\ninvestment portfolio and expand to new markets. The networks can also use the EU South\nAsia Start-Up Internationalization Help Desk to help their portfolio start-ups grow to new\nmarkets. The platform will also explore facilities to de-risk cross border investments and\ncreate a structure and understanding of tax and legal processes of investing internationally.\nFirst Event: September 2021 – EU-South Asia Investor and Start-up Internationalization\nFocus\nDate – 22 nd September 2021\nTime- 10:00am to 13:00pm (CEST)\, 13:30 to 16:30 (IST)\nPlatform – Zoom \nThe first event to be conducted in September will include eminent speakers from all the\ninvestor network partners and ecosystem stakeholders talking about the vast opportunity in\neach of the markets and also aim to raise awareness and instil confidence among investors\nand start-ups to look beyond their home territory for expanding their business. The session\nwill also focus on challenges and legal implications of venturing into a new country which help investors make better informed decisions. The event will showcase success stories of\ncross border investments from the networks and also successful start-ups who have scaled\ninternationally.
